Pre-workout: how to use it without hurting yourself
Caffeine, citrulline, beta-alanine: what they really do and how to dose them.
A good pre-workout is there for two things: giving you mental energy and supporting muscular work. The ingredients that matter are few.
Caffeine
It is the stimulant par excellence. Always start with half a dose to assess your tolerance and do not exceed 400 mg of caffeine a day from all sources: the caffeine calculator gives you a reference based on your body weight. If you want to dose it precisely, Real CNS is liquid caffeine in a spray.
Citrulline and arginine
Precursors of nitric oxide, these are the ingredients associated with the "pump" sensation. You will find them in Mambo, Nitrospeed and, in capsules with no powder to dissolve, in Turrbo.
Beta-alanine
Responsible for the typical tingling of the skin: it is harmless and passes in a few minutes. It is found in complete formulas such as Hazard, Samurai and Skull Crusher.
How to take it
20-30 minutes before training, in 250-300 ml of water. Don't use it every day: save it for your hardest sessions and take breaks so you don't build up a tolerance to caffeine. Not suitable for minors, pregnant women or people who are sensitive to caffeine.
